CityPups

For this solution, I utilized the design sprint methodology - Map, Sketch, Define, Prototype, Test.

MAP

People who live in cities have difficulties finding a dog to adopt. They have a lot of considerations based on their lifestyles like the space they live in or the dream job they have that's an hour commute.

PROBLEM

SOLUTION

I then put together a map from the research provided to me of the general process the user will utilize on this site.

I designed a website to help future dog owners easily find a pup to adopt. This design includes an area to add preferences and some information about them. Then it takes the user to a listing of dogs they could potentially adopt. Mainly with this solution, I wanted to allow the user to provide as much information as they wanted and then also provide plenty of information about each dog that is easy to digest.

My Role:

Mapping Flows, Sketching, Prototyping & Usability Testing

Tool:

Figma

Duration:

June 2023 - 1 Week

SKETCH

After reviewing various adoption websites sites already out there, I conducted a Crazy 8 activity to sketch screens from my map.

I chose the search results screen as my key screen since its the primary goal of this process. The squares highlight different ideas that I had for that screen. I also added a couple of the screen before and screen after the key screen to test out a few ideas.

DECIDE

Screen 1 depicts an easy and simple way for users to quickly fill out some preferences for their search and then directs them directly to it.

Screen 2 provides the option to change preferences if user decides to narrow things down or broaden them.

Screen 3 allows you to view more details about the dog. Mainly highlighting photos and videos (whatever the adoption agency uploads).

PROTOTYPE

TESTING

1

Add the ability to change number of dogs you can see on one screen when the user gets their search results.

2

I would add a confirmation pop up box after sending a message to provide verification to the user the message was sent when contacting the adoption agency.

3

I would also change the My Story section to break out Medical History and General Behavior History and then a general paragraph about the dog. Making it easy to point out the information users expect in that section.

I interviewed 5 people, 3 females and 2 males that fit the targeted persona identified from the research phase. There were 3 main insights I gathered from this test.

REFLECTION

Completing this process in 5 days was a very interesting experience. It was incredible to see myself provide so many ideas in a short amount of time. I really appreciated the structure around this sprint to make things more efficient and still produce rich designs. Completing this by myself was challenging, I would be very excited to use this methodology with a team.
